Career Story (USSS – Government):
After I finished school, I went for jobs in law enforcement because I wanted to help out and do something good. But right away, it hit me that things were not as fair as I thought. There were not many openings, and a lot of times people got ahead because of who they knew, not what they did.
That stuff made me frustrated, but I did not let it hold me back. So I decided to push for something bigger, and I applied to the United States Secret Service. It seems like that was the right move. Joining the USSS changed everything for me. It is this agency where real discipline counts, and loyalty too, along with being professional all the time. From the start, I threw myself into it completely. I put in more effort than most, staying late to get better at my job and show I meant it.
I stuck to all the rules, always went through the chain of command without any issues, and took care of tasks one by one with patience. It was not always easy to stay focused like that. Over time though, people started to see it. My bosses picked up on how steady I was, and the honest way I handled things, so promotions came along based on actual work. Now I am in a high command spot there. I lead different units and keep an eye on operations to make sure it all follows the law. When I make calls for the team, I try to keep it fair, looking at facts and what is real, instead of letting money or connections decide.
All those early experiences with unfairness shaped me a lot. I have gotten close to seeing corruption up front, which is part of why I push back against it so much.
